Gibran and Parking Service ShirtGibran Rakabumin Gibran and Parking Service ShirtGibran Rakabuming Raka, the mayor of Solo city, once again proves his talent in grasping the public interest through his mischievousness. During the recent celebration of Indonesia’s Independence Day (Aug 17, 2023), Gibran wore a shirt of parking service.Despite saying that there was no hidden meaning, it’s always possible to analyze Gibran’s decision making regarding his parking uniform. Moreover, Political Communications or Political Marketing is always about that subtle text or hidden message that people perceived from every action. He might be positioning himself as a not political party’s staff and showing his satirical statement about the organizational culture of his political party. There is another possibility. It can be analyzed that Gibran is linking himself or building a standpoint that he is indeed on the side of parking staff. In another word, he is a political figure who cares about the poor and the marginalized people, that’s why he dressed as a parking staff.Well, whatever he wanted to show from his fashion statement during the Independence Day celebration, both possibilities are benefiting him.Read the complete commentary on journalradar.my.id#politic #indonesia #gibranrakabumingraka

Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, Many Challenges Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, Many Challenges to TackleIndonesia continues to take role on global leadership. After successfully holding the role as the president of G20 in 2022, Indonesia is now taking the position as the chairman of Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN). After successful reign as the president of G20, the expectation will be quite high for Indonesia to lead the club of the South-East Asian. After receiving the hammer from previous Chairman, Cambodia, in Phnom Penh, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo stated that, “Indonesia is honored to be the Chair of ASEAN in 2023. The chairmanship of Indonesia will adopt the theme ‘ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth. He expected that ASEAN to become a fast-growing, inclusive, and sustainable economic region. Furthermore, ASEAN must be a stable and peaceful region and become an anchor for global stability as well as enforce international law consistently and remain neutral.Despite the big ambitions and hope for success, Indonesia faces many challenges in leading the association. First of all is Myanmar situation. The crisis will likely steal most of the spotlight throughout ASEAN’s 2023 political-security agenda. Thus, regional stability can be alternative achievable objective.Uncoincidentally, Indonesia’s G20 presidency and ASEAN Chairmanship are processing alongside the ongoing conflict, both in Myanmar and in Europe. The geo-political situation also leads the world economy into recession. The ASEAN region was among the fastest-growing regions in 2022 and is expected to remain so in 2023. Yet, economic growth will be slightly dampened this year due to worsening global economic conditions and the risk of recession in major developed economies. The two issues might test Indonesia’s leadership as the chairman of ASEAN in 2023.#asean #indonesia #globalaffairs
Indonesia Prepares to Welcome Political YearIndo Indonesia Prepares to Welcome Political YearIndonesia will face the general election in February 2024 to vote for both president and vice-president candidates, also members of parliaments. The year of 2024 will also become the final year of President Joko Widodo’s reign after 10 years in the office before the new president-elect will take the office in October 2024.Contrary from the previous election in 2019, where President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) competed as the incumbent in reclaiming his seat against former military general Prabowo Subianto (who is currently become the Minister of Defense of Indonesia).General Election 2024 is the race towards a no man’s land, a place where no incumbent can reclaim his position. The debate over policies, ideas, vision and mission, will become more important to increase the votes especially from the swing voters. In 2024, Indonesia will again face a presidential election to choose the new president to lead the massive archipelago. The General Elections Commissions (KPU) already decided that the final line-up for president and vice-president candidates will be revealed in October 2023 and the election will be held in February 2024.During the process towards the announcement for the final candidates in October 2023, there will be many speculations and probably declarations for the president and vice-president candidates, some might come true, and some might not. As some parties are now still considering in fixing their coalition to run for the election.#politic #president #election #indonesia

Anwar Ibrahim’s Homework to Lead MalaysiaWith Anwar Ibrahim’s Homework to Lead MalaysiaWith now Anwar Ibrahim is taking the office of Prime Minister of Malaysia after long decades journey, there are many homeworks waiting ahead of him. Malaysia’s political situation has been unstable since the resignation of former PM Mahathir Mohamad in February 2020.Malaysia’s 15th General Election held on May 19, saw an unprecedented result with no single political coalition winning a majority vote to form the government. After five days of deadlock, the King finally swore in Anwar Ibrahim, leader of the Pakatan Harapan (the Alliance of Hope – PH) coalition as the 10th prime minister of Malaysia. After appointed as PM without winning a majority vote, Anwar Ibrahim first challenge is to create a unity government with other parties to provide PH coalition with stronger power and more stable government. Second, Anwar has to make a bold move to actually show that he wants to bring a reform from previous government and assure the people with his cabinet decision.Anwar also face polarization after years of intense of politicization, national reconciliation with other coalitions might be needed to bring Malaysia more unite as a nation. Last but not least, Anwar has to prove his promise that make him win the election, to drive corruption out of politics.📷: AP Photo#AnwarIbrahim #Malaysia #PrimeMinister #politics #SouthEastAsia

The Death of the Queen and The Dance on the Left The Death of the Queen and The Dance on the LeftEvery time a powerful figure from the western hemisphere passed away seems like a chance for people from the left to dance on the death of the figure and celebrating a moment from history that has no correlation with one death in the present time. Not long ago, the queen Elizabeth II just passed away after 70 years of service, making her the longest reigning monarch in British history. Yet, the death of the Queen was used for people from the left to talk about the evil of the British Empire, the dark history of the country and even the western civilization.Just like any time and any place in the history of humankind, there are always good people and not-so-good people. Ethical values are always changing. How can we be judging historical event with their unique situation with standard moral of the 21st century? How can we talk about the era of ocean exploration with the standard moral of baby boomers or maybe millennial. At 21 years old, the queen through radio announcement stated that she would devote her life for the country. Quoting Ben Shapiro from Ben Shapiro’s Show, the Queen devotion is incomparable to the 21 years old today who are the most immature human being that have ever walk the planet.#queenelizabeth #monarchy #queen #leadership #figure #people #socialissue

That night, people just enjoy their night around Legian – Kuta just like any other night. In the midst of the busy night of Legian Street, an explosion happened from inside Paddy’s Irish Bar.As people ran out in panic after the explosion in the bar, the second and bigger explosion happened through L300 van full of explosive materials that was parked in front of Sari Club instantly killing dozens of people. Minutes later, the third bomb exploded near the US Consulate in Denpasar City. Do Not Forget 9/11September 11, 2001, Tuesday, p Do Not Forget 9/11September 11, 2001, Tuesday, people were doing their daily lives and some people were traveling by plane maybe for pleasure, to meet their family, or maybe for work. But workers and travelers were not the only ones who entered the plane on that day. There were also 19 terrorists under Al-Qaeda led by Osama Bin Laden. They soon hijacked the plane and killed stewardesses and pilots and ended-up killing around thousands innocent peoples. The hijacked planes were eventually crashed into World Trade Center, the tower that symbolize America’s economic power. A hijacked plane also crashed into Pentagon, the headquarter of U.S military. Another plane was directed into the White House but protected by its passengers and fell into an empty field. The attack on America was not an attack towards its economic power or even USA’s foreign policy. It was an attack towards the values of USA such as freedom of speech, human rights, and tolerance towards diversity. If by one in thousands chances that America fell to the hand of terrorists group, then there would be no other safe place on earth where freedom was guaranteed. And the western civilization and its unique value in the name of democracy would slowly disperse. The 9/11 attack was an attack toward freedom of speech, democracy, and all good things of western civilization values have give us.#terrorism #9/11 #history #democracy
More Aid for Productive Sector! The recent issue More Aid for Productive Sector! The recent issue of the fuel price resulted in a lot of mass protests by students in many provinces in Indonesia and also protests from activists and civil societies. It is seen that the decreasing subsidy for fuel will give more financial burden for people, but will it?Previously during the reign of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), the fuel price was also increasing, and the subsidy was switched to education sector that resulted free education in primary school and junior school (now until high school).Government was planning that the subsidy should be spent for more important sector instead of consumption as the government aimed to increase the number of certified human resources, national literacy level, and national education level. The aid for consumptive item such as fuel is not a strategic spending from economic point of view. The government aid should be on more productive and fundamental sector such as education. Spending on strategic sector must be done especially under current situation when countries are recovering from the pandemic effect.Stimulation to economy and gearing more resilient human capital are way more important than fuel price. Subsidy on fuel is pure waste of national spending.#policy #advocacy #policy #nationalspending #economy
