It has been 2 years since the President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin formally took the office on October 2019. Few months after Jokowi second reign begun, the COVID-19 was starting to take over the world and not long before Indonesia applied PSBB (Big Scale Social Restrictions) policy.
In October 2021, right now, the pandemic still haunts most of us all across the world. But the situation is believed to be getting better. Daily total positive cases in Indonesia in the last month has been stable under 3.000 cases. The travel business is already resumed although it has not back to its best yet.
Politic wise, Jokowi successfully acquire political stability from his developing coalition with PAN recently announced that they are siding with the coalition party. Despite protest and critics from civil society and opposition, there is no major political competition on his second reign especially with Gerindra Party already on his side.
2 years of Jokowi – Ma’ruf shows progression and stability despite critics from civil society, other groups of interests, and opposition. The project of infrastructure still progressing despite pandemic hit. The political issues are still manageable despite two reshuffles.
Pandemic now gives more unprecedented homework to the government that need to be mentioned for Indonesia to calmly enter the recovery and endemic phase. From the vaccination process that is still slow on other provinces, job loss during pandemic, the increasing of unemployment rate, and political bargaining with other countries related to travel border.
