Netflix, one of the most popular streaming services, appointed Susan Rice (former national security adviser to former President Barrack Obama) as one of the Board of Directors in March 2018. Furthermore, Barrack Obama and Michele Obama also signed Netflix production deal.
Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix already denied that Netflix is not Obama Network, but the popularity of Netflix among the conservatives have fallen. In 2018, according to data from YouGov, a brand perception research firm, indicates that Netflix positive-impression among republican were decreasing 16% and the approval rating from the democrats increased 15%.
Not only Netflix but other streaming services as well. Since then, many adaptations have been made to push over-representation agenda despite it is historically wrong or shows with politically left agenda in broader aspect. For example is the black Anne Boleyn, BBC’s The Hollow Crown with black Margaret of Anjou, Prime Video’s Jack Ryan, Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, and more.
It might be that Netflix and other streaming services were not in fault, but the Hollywood industry itself is already contaminated with political left agenda and sells their agenda to streaming services to reach more audiences.
