It was recently announced that the ticket entry fee to enter Borobudur Temple was increasing into Rp 750.000 for national travelers, for international travelers the ticket fee is Rp 2.500.000. It can be said that the rising fee to enter the temple is needed since Borobudur Temple is a national heritage and a place to pray for Buddhist people.
It is time to reworking the mindset of the people that Borobudur Temple is a place to pray and they have to respect the believers who pray there. Borobudur Temple is one of seven wonders, and government plans to make Borobudur as the center for Buddhist around the world, just like Mecca.
To proceed with this masterplan, the internal problem should be addressed first before proceeding on further steps. The people who climb Borobudur just to take picture or selfie, sitting there with bunch of friends, need to be solved first.
On the other hand, students study tour also faces no change in the ticket fee. It is showing that the management of Borobudur still prioritize the passing of knowledge to the next generation.
