Despite the declining rating of Oscar over the year, the latest Oscar bring another unforgettable and also hilarious moment. It was the action from Will Smith against Chris Rock at the stage of Oscar. Will slapped Chris when Chris Rock made a joke over Jada, Will’s wife.
It was actually a very mild joke, Chris said that Jada’s hair made her ready to star in G.I Jane 2. Jada is actually suffer from Alopecia and Chris didn’t know that. But what about it? Chris is a comedian, Jada and Will are celebrities and public figure who sat at the front row, it was normal for them to get roasted by a stand-up comedian and not to mention it was just a very mild joke.
Some might argue that Will was showing his masculine side by slapping Chris to defend his wife. No, it was not. Will was totally feminine by acting emotionally and disrespect Chris over his job as a comedian who was supposed to roast people especially celebrities in an awards event.
If Will is a masculine and protecting the honour of his family, he wont be angry at Chris. He was supposed to be angry at his wife who openly suggest to have an open marriage, casually cheats over him and announced it in public.
Your honour is not protected when you slap someone who roast you over a mild joke, because honour starts within a family. And the slap from Will Smith was not showing his anger at Chris Rock, it was showing his frustration over his family matters and he avenged it towards Chris, which is very unmanly to do.
The standing ovation that Smith received when presented as best actor is showing the moral standard of Hollywood and the world of celebrities. It was a pathetic action showed by fellow celebrities over irrational action on the stage as big as Oscar.
